Seven date ideas for the guy with no funds this Valentine's Day
El Paso, TEXAS —
Alright, Guys – take it from a woman. Most all of us love to be pampered but, here’s a little secret: You need not splurge on expensive dinners in order to keep our interest. We are simply looking for some creative thought. Below are 7 ways to impress without going into debt this Valentine’s Day.
1. Take your dogs to the farmers market at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing.
If either of you have a four-legged friend, bring your furry Valentine to the specially-themed themed market on Saturday, Feb. 17 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
One crucial piece of advice is to make sure her dog is affectionate toward you. Women definitely see it as a red flag if the dog is skittish or aggressive around a new potential love interest.
Also, do not be afraid to introduce her to your dog. She may appear to give him, rather than you, more attention at first, but there is no need to be jealous. Think of him more like a wingman, and the two of you have the same goal of winning over her heart.
2. Go on a haunted downtown ghost walk.
3. Go stargazing.
Whether in the back of a pickup truck on top of Scenic Drive or a little hideaway that only you and she know about, stargazing makes for a romantic evening.
Don’t forget a cozy blanket and binoculars.
4. Take her to the Mariachi Festival.
Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino hosts a special event on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Admission and parking are both free. Live mariachi music takes place all night and here’s a pro-tip: free sodas, coffee, and other non-alcoholic drinks are available inside the casino, which can then be brought over to the trackside.
5. Volunteer at an animal shelter.
Volunteering always makes everyone feel good. It also can tell you a lot about what kind of girl she is on the inside.
Make sure to plan ahead and check the website regarding whether a volunteer application must be submitted beforehand.
6. Give her an at-home spa night.
Everything you need should already be readily available in her cabinets. This is better suited for a couple who lives together; otherwise, she may find you rather creepy.
Look for bubble bath and candles under the sink and make sure to have her drink of choice ready as well. Place towels in the dryer to tumble on medium-heat and bring her warm towels when she is ready to dry off.
If you all have children, make sure to keep them occupied and let her relax with some quiet time. You can also set up a laptop in the bathroom to stream her favorite movie on Netflix while she relaxes.
7. Stay in and have a movie marathon.
Cuddle on the couch and scrounge up snacks from the kitchen cabinets. Place them in matching bowls and try to fill the coffee table with ideas for a fun popcorn bar. True, you may need to go to the Dollar Tree for this idea, but not everything in life is free, guys.
The classic romantic comedy movies include: "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days," "Maid In Manhattan" and “The Notebook.”
