I-10/Mesquite & Vado Interchange
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One office and El Terrero, the contractor has begun demolition of the old eastbound overpass. It will take approximately 6 months to complete full reconstruction of the bridge. The westbound demolition and reconstruction will follow once this portion of the bridge is complete.
Eastbound traffic is detoured onto the westbound lanes, where motorists will encounter lane restrictions for east and westbound traffic on I-10 from mile marker 150 to 155 (Vado exit). Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed and to proceed with caution during peak hours. Should an incident occur within the restricted area in which the concrete wall barrier is located, and is considered non-life threatening, law enforcement is requesting that drivers move their vehicles over to a safe location so that they can assist and assess the situation. This will allow the flow of traffic to continue safely.
All ramps will remain open during the demolition and reconstruction of the Mesquite Bridge. Motorists will be advised of the I-10 eastbound lane closure along with the bridge overpass. The public is encouraged to seek an alternate route as the bridge will remain closed until full reconstruction of the Mesquite overpass is complete. Public Meeting will be held on Wednesday August 6th at the Del Cerro Center in Mesquite, NM from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm.
I-10/Avenida de Mesilla and NM-28 Las Cruces, NM
The District One office for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with La Calerita Construction continues construction at Avenida de Mesilla. The contractor will need to close the I-10 eastbound off ramp at Avenida de Mesilla on Monday August 4 and should be opened by Tuesday August 12th. The I-10 westbound on ramp continues to remain closed, and is scheduled to be open by Friday August 8th. All other ramps will remain open. Traffic will continue over the eastbound bridge until the westbound bridge is completely constructed.
Construction continues on Avenida de Mesilla with lane restrictions on NM-28/Avenida de Mesilla between Hickory Loop and Lakeside Drive, and on I-10 between Motel Boulevard and University Avenue. Motorists will be able to gain access to the City of Las Cruces and the Town of Mesilla at Motel Boulevard exit 139, or University Avenue exit 142 for both east and westbound I-10 traffic.
