80 people protesting healthcare bill arrested at Capitol Hill office buildings

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - It's the first day back on Capitol Hill for Senators, which brought a number of constituents to their offices protesting the proposed healthcare bill.

According to Capitol Police - that led to 80 arrests.

59 people were arrested at the Senate Office Buildings, 21 at the House.

Video taken outside House Speaker Paul Ryan's office showed people declaring "Paul Ryan don't you dare take away our medicare."

People were seen being taken away by Capitol Hill Police in zip ties.

Police pushed some reporters back from the protest areas in the Senate hallways.

According to a press release, people planning the protest expected more than 100 people from 21 states to attend.

"People with chronic health conditions, doctors, nurses and health care aides, traveled from Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Nevada, Virginia, West Virginia, and other states to demand that their elected officials kill the Republican healthcare bill," the release states.

Monday's protests follow a similar tone displayed last month; 40 people were arrested during those demonstrations.
