Scoop on Savings – Saving on Tamiflu

The flu season is in full swing, and it’s already become widespread.

In this week’s Scoop on Savings, the flu season is in full swing, and it’s already become widespread.

KFOX14 has reported how Tamiflu has become a costly option to treat the flu.

One El Pasoan found herself paying over $200 for the drug, with insurance, as pharmacies began running out of Tamiflu.

Nurse practitioner Vivian Villarreal, of Family Medicine of West Texas, told me you actually shouldn’t be paying that much for Tamiflu.

She says there’s a way to save on most any prescription drug: using the prescription drug savings cards in your doctor’s office.

Villarreal says anything on the Good RX card, can save you money, and not only for Tamiflu.

You can also print out coupons on their website, GoodRX.com.

Keep in mind, Tamiflu only works in the first 48 hours of getting the flu. So once you start feeling the symptoms, see your doctor fast, and grab a Good RX card while you’re there.
