Kelly Anne works at Ode Brewery
El Paso, TEXAS —
On this week's segment, anchor and reporter Kelly Anne Beile ventured over to Ode Brewing. The local beer brewery has only been around for two years and is already the oldest continuously operating brewery in El Paso.
Beile partnered up with Albert Salinas, the brewmaster and co-owner of Ode Brewery, to make a special brew based on the popular Mexican candy, De La Rosa. The candy is similar to marzipan and has a sugary peanut butter flavor.
The pair go through the initial processes of making wort. According to Wikipedia, wort is the liquid extracted from the mashing process during the brewing of beer or whisky. Wort contains the sugars that will be fermented by the brewing yeast to produce alcohol.
The special batch of brew will be released to the public Nov. 17-18. The public may try the brew, La Familia Rosa Roja, at Ode Brewery and the westside location of Tin Man on Nov. 17. The following day, the brew will be available at both eastside locations of Tin Man. Exclusive growlers and glassware will also be available at the launch events.
