Gear Friday: Golden Age program
The Golden Age program brings seniors and UTEP kinesiology students together.
The undergraduate seniors in the kinesiology and physiology department gain hands-on knowledge and apply their skills to real people.
Those who participate get a comprehensive baseline to understand their needs, develop goals and get catered personal attention.
Dr. Sandor Dorgo who is at the forefront and founder of the program says The Golden Age program is leading to better research on how we can all age better.
Dorgo said the program is proving that as we get older, we must continue to challenge our muscles with resistance as well as staying flexible.
He says while light activities are great, "the golden years should not be a time to leave challenging exercise behind if you can get the right guidance."
The program is offered by college semester. It costs the golden-agers about $100 and anyone can join.
