Albuquerque kidnapping suspect arrested near Las Cruces
EL PASO, Texas —
New Mexico State Police arrested a kidnapping suspect miles from where the victim was kidnapped.
According to NMSP, the suspect Epifanio Torres, 30, allegedly took the victim in the Albuquerque area.
The two supposedly had an ongoing relationship.
Later, Torres red Ford F-150 pickup truck was spotted near New Mexico mile marker 68.
Police attempted to stop him but he refused and continued to drive southbound.
Police say, Torres then contacted NMSP in Albuquerque and said he would surrender at the Border Patrol checkpoint near Las Cruces.
He did so and was arrested.
Torres is charged with aggravated fleeing. He may face other charges.
The victim, a female was found in safe condition.
NMSP are still investigating.
